Rockslide

Hounddog, the eldest medicine cat, came to Wolfgaze just as he heard of Quailtuft's potential mate. Wolfgaze listened through rage as Hounddog informed him of findings from Magpiethorn, but their conversation was cut short as a loud crash sounded down the mountainside. He thought back to his former apprentice's death, and then tasked Wrenpounce with a cleanup patrol. When the cat returned, Wrenpounce informed him of a young Colony cat that was murdered on their territory.

Sickness

After prey had grown scarce, Wolfgaze proposed a desperate ploy to hunt an eagle at the lookout. He sent out a patrol of strong cats to take down an eagle, but did not attend himself as he grew sick from diseased prey. He stayed within his den for days alongside his best friend Quailtuft, appreciating the time he got with his closest friend. His affections were only growing for the tom, but he couldn't focus on them. That was until he overheard that Quailtuft was prepared to take a mate in the she-cat Owleyes. Wolfgaze's heart broke in two, and anger filled him.

Return from Eagle's Lookout

Wolfgaze learned of Alpinestar's death, and despair filled him. He alone knew how many lives the leader had left, and the loss of yet another was unfortunate. But conflicting feelings began to stir within him, and Wolfgaze silently began to wonder if it was for the best. Alpinestar remained within his den for some time, and Wolfgaze took on even more duties in the Clan. He sent out a patrol to Singeclan to warn them of the threat from the Colony and share of the death of young Orbit in hopes to improve relations. He also began searching for his possible replacement, considering many cats for the position of deputy when he would become leader. In this time period, a small rockslide killed two Summitclan cats, including his then-apprentice Ospreypaw.

Eagle's Lookout

Wolfgaze brought the Colony cats to the Eagle's Lookout with Ospreypaw in tow. He showed them their new territory, but soon, disaster struck. An eagle swooped down from above, terrorizing the frightened cats before scooping up the young cat Orbit and carrying him off to his death. Wolfgaze returned to camp with the news.

The Gathering

One moon in Green Leaf, Summitclan trekked down the mountain side to attend the gathering. It was there that Wolfgaze spoke with the newly-appointed deputy of now-Singeclan, Sablestorm, to come to her for advice on dealing with the senile Alpinestar. The two agreed to meet the next night, and the gathering continued. His new apprentice Ospreypaw was acknowledged during the proceedings, and Wolfgaze began to cringe as Alpinestar continued, repeatedly deadnaming now-Singeclan as Valleyclan. Then the Colony came. After the Colony's leader shared some words, Wolfgaze and Sablestorm leapt to the sides of their leaders and stood on the waterfall with them. Alpinestar conceded a plot of territory to the Colony, and Wolfgaze offered to bring them there.

Beginning of Deputyship

In his first moon of being deputy, more cats began to turn up dead across Summitclan territory. Wolfgaze began growing suspicious of one of his own clanmates, his own close friend Harecrescent. His worst fears were confirmed one day when Wolfgaze discovered the warrior murdering Alpinestar and taking one of his lives. Wolfgaze connected the dots to his other crimes, but when he brought the cat before the Clan, he only accused him of having killed Alpinestar, protecting someone he once held dear. He told no-one that the other cats were also murdered by Harecrescent. The cat was exiled from the Clan, and after Alpinestar recovered even slower than before, Wolfgaze's duties only increased.

Brief Warriorhood

Named Wolfgaze alongside his friend, now Quailtuft, Wolfgaze was immediately given an apprentice so that Alpinestar could prepare him to be deputy once the cat graduated. It was during this time that a cat from the Clan mysteriously died, but for the time being, Wolfgaze was none the wiser to the cause.

Apprenticeship

Wolfpaw was named an apprentice alongside his friend Quailpaw, only one moon after Harepaw was named. He and the other two cats trained together, still getting into trouble but slowly mellowing out and finding respect for the Warrior code. Wolfpaw caught the eye of the leader, Alpinestar, his grandfather, early on in his apprenticeship. The elderly tom saw his potential, and began to groom him for the position of deputy. Alpinestar began to teach him alongside his mentor and began putting more and more responsibilities of the young cat. He slowly grew more and more detached from his friends, but still tried to keep up with their joint trainings and shenanigans. He wasn't able to see how Harepaw was being affected by his training, let alone the night he summited the mountain... and returned days later, changed.

Kithood

Wolfgaze was born as Wolfkit to Cypresshunter and Marigoldtail. At the time, Cypresshunter was his father and Marigoldtail his mother. The kit grew up alongside Harekit and Quailkit (the latter borne of Starkfrost). He and his two best friends would get into all sorts of trouble together, and remained friends until apprenticehood.

Deputy of Summitclan

Wolfgaze is an exhausted cat with a lot on his plate. He tries his best to appear serious and cordial to his clanmates, trying to foster respect from them. He wants to be someone they can turn to in times of need. He has a playful side, but with the great weight on his shoulders, he has no time to entertain it. His psyche is slowly being widdled down by his responsibilities, but it would still take something great to make him snap.
